The Willow Tree Festival Board announces a contest to design the youth button for our 42nd annual festival.

The winning artist will be awarded $50 and will be recognized on our website, in the local newspaper, and at the festival.

HOW TO ENTER:

Limit of one entry per person. Click these links for a printable flyer and an optional easy entry form.

Eligibility:

  • The button contest is open to all students in first through fifth grades in the Willow Tree region (Sheridan County and adjacent counties).
  • All artwork must be exclusively student created
  • Each submission must include:
    • Student’s name
    • Age/Grade/Teacher
    • Parent’s name and phone number
  • All entries will become property of Willow Tree Festival.

Criteria

  • Each entry should be able to be reproduced in red, white, and blue with ideas reflecting our festival (food, music, art, fun!). Extra points if it contains patriotic ideas in honor of this year’s celebration of the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence (America’s 250th). You can submit it in any color, we will colorize it in red, white, and blue.
  • Entries should be drawn on white paper, measuring 8.5” by 11” or less.
  • The drawing should be able to be scaled to fit on a 2¼ inch button – we can shrink it.
  • Entries will need to be digitized so we can not accept rolled-up, folded, or drawings on larger than 8.5” by 11”.

Submission Instructions

  • Entries can be scanned or photographed and emailed to smithstorian@gmail.com.
  • Paper entries can be dropped of at the Sheridan County Journal Star office.

Deadline

  • All entries must be received before 3pm, Friday, May 29, 2026
